Sophia is from Guadalajara, Mexico and graduated with honors from the Universidad de Guadalajara in 2013. She has over 7 years of legal experience, including working as a corporate and litigation lawyer for 2 years in Mexico. In 2016, she immigrated to the United States.
After experiencing the immigration process herself, Sophia became interested in U.S. immigration law and she enrolled in a paralegal program at Oakland University. She completed her Paralegal Certification in April 2018.
At Palmer Rey, Sophia focuses on removal cases before the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and Federal Court. She works with the attorneys on preparing bond packages, cancellation of removal and adjustment of status applications for legal residents (EOIR -42A), for non-residents (EOIR-42B), asylum applications, and other immigration matters.
